In London but a few weeks and a few hours before this picture I was utterly broken… A dark cauldron was being swirled inside my chest and was only intensified by the utterly isolating experience of being in student halls and in a university where I felt chronically misunderstood and deeply, deeply lonely.
This picture marks the beginning of my journey into the spectacular, unimaginable and wholly deserved life I live now.
The other people in the picture gave me hope; their choice to be different gave me strength to embrace the light inside me. Although none are close friends now, this night was instrumental in building me up to become the person I dreamt of becoming: Gavino di Vino.
